About the Maker: Hamid Mousavi
Hamid Mousavi (born on 1986) is a santur player, composer, and instrument maker. He began learning santur at age six and studied with masters such as Bahman Bahram and Ardavan Kamkar. Alongside performance, he developed innovations in santur making, including the V-shaped bridge, 12-bridge chromatic santur, and double-stage rustproof tuning pegs.
He has collaborated with leading artists like Kayhan Kalhor and Homayoun Shajarian, contributed to film music, and performed widely. Today, Mousavi is respected worldwide for blending tradition with innovation, creating santurs valued by both professionals and students.
